When it comes to all things related to course registration, students can get support through the University Registrar’s Office. This is where new students can research their academic program in the catalog, then monitor progress toward their degree in Degree Works. Students should keep coming back to make sure they’re on track before registration for each semester. Schedule Hero is the best tool for viewing available classes and registering each semester.

Registration Guide

Students enrolled in an undergraduate program at UNCG should follow this guide. There are different steps to follow for special student types, like visiting students and those in the Greater Greensboro Consortium.

Schedule Hero

Schedule Hero is an alternative to registration via UNCGenie. This tool gives students a faster, easier experience by automatically finding the best schedule based on students’ desired classes and timing.

Special Student Types

Students who are not admitted to a degree program at UNCG, such as visiting students or course auditors, may need to follow a different registration process. Learn more about special student types here.

Advising Center Contact

Students will meet with assigned Advisors from their respective school or college each semester when registering for classes. Should you have any questions you can use this page to connect with an advisor.

Changing Your Major

At UNCG, changing your major to a new concentration or field of study, adding or removing a minor, and adding a second major are all done using the UNCG Curriculum Change form. Learn more about the process here.

University Catalog

The university catalog is the official reference for all policies, requirements, and expectations the student must adhere to during their time at UNCG. Students are encouraged to carefully read through the catalog!

Course Schedules

Students are encouraged to use Schedule Hero to search for courses. However, the course search tool allows students to search course listings for the current and future terms and register via UNCGenie.

Degree Planning

UNC Greensboro is committed to helping students navigate their degree requirements in order to graduate as quickly and efficiently as possible. The process begins as soon as a student is admitted to UNCG.

Transfer Credit Info

Students can transfer credits into UNC Greensboro through courses taken elsewhere and/or placement tests. Learn more about how we review transfer credits and translate them to their UNCG equivalents.

Standardized / Placement Tests

Students may be exempted from certain course requirements and/or prerequisites by taking placement tests, receiving waivers, and achieving certain scores on AP or IB exams. Eligible course credits can be applied to a students’ transcripts.

Auditing Classes

Anyone who wants to simply attend a course at UNC Greensboro for no credit are welcome to participate as an auditor. Auditors can participate in courses when space is available and with the approval of the department head and/or the instructor.

International Visa Requirements

The United States government has mandated a series of regulations and guidelines that degree-seeking international students in F-1 and J-1 visa categories must adhere to during their stay in the U.S.
